Medicinal Cannabis Matters – Our weekly round-up of what has been happening in the world of medicinal cannabis this week. 

This week we look into how patient Jorja Emerson’s life has been turned around thanks to medicinal cannabis.  We look at new changes in the Isle of Man which allow pharmacies to supply medicinal cannabis, and here in Jersey we saw proposals for the decriminalisation of cannabis get rejected.

Jorja Emerson was born in 2016 with a rare chromosome abnormality which meant she suffered devastating seizures. But her life was changed when she obtained medicinal cannabis through a private healthcare company after struggling to get a prescription on the NHS.

Jersey says no to decriminalising cannabis 

In the past week, it was voted that cannabis would not be decriminalised in Jersey, meaning that medical cannabis can continue to be prescribed to those who qualify and really need it.

Isle of Man pharmacies get the go ahead to supply medicinal cannabis.

An unrestricted number of pharmacies have been able to apply for a licence this week, the service opening the doors for patients who would usually have to obtain prescriptions from private clinics in the UK.
