Medicinal Cannabis Matters – A weekly round-up 4th October

Medicinal Cannabis Matters | Friday roundup 4th October 2024.
Medicinal Cannabis Matters – Our weekly round-up of what has been happening in the world of medicinal cannabis this week.
This week, funding has been announced for a major UK research programme, Medicann looks set to take part in an up-and-coming women’s wellness event, and across the pond in the US, research shows that chronic pain patients favour medicinal cannabis.
The UK is spearheading cannabis research
The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) has awarded £350k for the research of medical cannabis in a new study to optimise the Pharmaceutical-Grade Plants. As more patients become aware of the medicinal cannabis market, and the potential for managing a range of symptoms, this research project is good news for the UK and Channel Islands as the industry further advances to provide EU GMP medicines to help patients gain a better quality of life.
Medicann to provide advice on female health at local Jersey event
Medicann experts will be on hand at the Women’s Health & Lifestyle Show in Jersey on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October. The team will be available to guide local patients on how to become a patient with Medicann and conditions that can be prescribed. Join CEO Gary Whipp for a speaker slot on the Sunday.
Chronic pain patients in the US are more supportive of cannabis access, researchers find.
Over in the United States, where cannabis is legal in 38 of 50 states for medical use, a recent study by Rutgers Health found that 71% of adults with chronic pain in the US support of the federal legalisation of medical cannabis.
