Medical Marijuana Patients Report Lasting Quality Of Life Benefits

According to recent studies medicinal cannabis patients have reported a sustained improvement in quality of life. The patients who took part in this study had been recommended medicinal cannabis by their doctor. Results show that many patients found improvement in physical and social functioning.

Medicinal cannabis has been approved for 53 patients with a number of conditions it can treat likely to increase.

In a parliamentary response to Independent TD Violet-Anne Wynne, Health Minister Stephen Donnelly said the purpose of the programme was to enable compassionate access to cannabis for medical reasons, where conventional treatment has failed. The report recommended that cannabis should be made available for the treatment only of patients with specified medical conditions who had failed to respond to all other previous treatments.
